6 Internet Marketing Myths That Kills You And Suck Your Energy
Hello Dear Friend,
If you are new to internet marketing and desire to make money online or if you are an advanced player, you are going to face some myths about internet marketing in the near future that will drain your energy.
The results of these myths affect your emotional and motivational states, which are indispensable ingredients if you want to succeed online.
As we already discussed in previous posts, nothing in life is linear so you have to be ready to face not only positive emotions in business but also negative.
However, let’s take one step back here and analyze these myths:
Myth #1
Email marketing is dead: First and foremost email marketing is not dead because even as I am writing this post there are a ton of people who are making money online with email marketing.
The fact that Google doesn’t allow direct linking to squeeze pages is a significant drawback and more than that, recently Gmail updated with “tabs” and the emails that you send out to your list will end up going to “promotion” tab rather than to inbox. Of course this change has a negative impact in internet marketing world and especially to spammers who send one offer after another.
If you are a serious marketer with serious business you don’t have to panic about changes because first of all internet marketing is a changeable environment, therefore you need to adapt to this kind of environment and secondly when you provide value to people, you build powerful connections and trust emerges automatically.
So you are not going to be a victim in this whole game because people will trust you no matter where your email ends up. Period!
Myth #2
You can start a business with no money at all: You cannot make money online when you don’t have some money. Why? It’s simple.
You need:
1. $19/month for auto-responder
2. About $50+/year for a hosting account
3. About $10/year for domain name
4. $100 to buy the top 5 books about your niche (without kowledge you simply will lose the game. When your customers know more than you, then you can‘t sell them anything)
5. $100 for professional microphone (creating high quality audio and video sound)
6. If you have a mobile phone with HD video then you are more lucky than you think
7. $1000 for product creation (if you are too lazy to create a product like eBooks or video courses you can outsource this work to third party companies or freelancers. However, finding the right people to work for you is a little challenging at the beginning)
Now if you believe that you can start with no money and manage to be motivated and optimistic enough to handle the whole project by yourself then you are in the wrong place and the wrong time because you are genius! However you can start with $200 easily and remain in the game for about 1 year!
Myth #3
You can make a lot of money quickly: Internet marketing is not a magic place where miracles happen. It’s a place where people who work smarter and harder, win. Earning millions of dollars online is doable but it is not as easy as you may think. You have to put in the appropriate effort, hire top freelancers, designers, copywriters, etc, to work with you. It’s all about systems.
Myth #4
Facebook is the A&Z of your traffic strategy: Facebook, with 1 billion users is a magic place for internet marketers. It’s a magic place for marketers who know exactly what they are doing. But you can be in facebook marketing for a lot of months without achieving anything if you don’t know what you’re doing. By the way most people don’t succeed in facebook marketing.
Even if Facebook is a great place to reveal yourself and your business, it still remains a third party platform with “terms of use” which can suddenly and arbitrarily be changed in one day, throwing your whole business out of the game.
Also because Facebook is a social media, people hang out there because they don’t want to think about spending money, instead they want to chat with their friends and share cool photos and stuff online. Therefore not all niches work with facebook properly.
Myth #5
More traffic = more sales: When I was a beginner I aimed to buy and send a lot of traffic either to my squeeze page or to my blog. However after a couple of failures to get even one sale I suspected that traffic by itself doesn’t work. Not only for me but generally speaking for every marketer who wants to make sales online. You simply need targeted traffic if you want to make things happen.
Myth #6
You need a website and traffic will flow by itself: You can be the world‘s greatest artist, living in the desert, and nobody would ever know about you. It’s so simple. You have to market what you create in your business (content, plugins, softwares, eBooks, videos, presentations, etc.). Internet marketing is not only about archiving but it is more about interacting with other open minded people in your niche.
Be the person who interacts with others in the same niche and gives value to conversations and blog comments. More than this go tweet and like your business and, generally speaking, create relationships that will last forever and where both parties will benefit from the whole story.
The growth of your business occurs in small but consistent chunks of progress.
These are the 6 myths that make your life more difficult and frustrating. So after this post I believe that your mind is a little bit clearer about success in some areas of internet marketing.
